Meet Laura Frost
For over 20 years, Laura has worked in accounting and finance. She cut her teeth in property development at MAB, then spent seven years at Deloitte, working across family offices and large enterprises in a range of industries. From there, she spent six years as GM of Finance for James Richardson Corporation, running finance and compliance for JR Duty Free across Australia and New Zealand.
She's highly qualified: a Bachelor of Commerce, Chartered Accountant, and BAS Agent, among other things. But it wasn't the qualifications that shaped what came next. It was a simple observation that kept nagging at her: small businesses rarely got access to the kind of high-level, informed CFO support that larger companies took for granted.
She started advising a few small businesses as a side hustle. She loved the work, and the feedback was just as enthusiastic. That was enough to convince her. In late 2016, she left corporate life behind and founded Common Cents Advisory, backed by a clear vision, a real gap in the market, and no shortage of hard work.
Today, Laura is the CFO you get without the corporate price tag. She is there when you need her, straightforward in how she works, and genuinely invested in seeing her clients perform, grow, and succeed. Common Cents Advisory has continued to grow ever since, with Laura now supported by a team of four accountants.

Meet Simon Frost
As a trusted adviser, Laura was often asked questions that went beyond the usual scope of accounting. Clients wanted to know whether they should buy or rent equipment, or how best to structure their home loan. It became clear there was a gap, and an opportunity to give clients a more seamless integrated experience.
That's where Simon Frost comes in. Simon started his career at Deloitte in corporate finance, where he became a Chartered Accountant and developed a genuine love of spreadsheets. From there, he joined Liberty Financial, spending over a decade learning the lending lifecycle inside out in leadership roles spanning product distribution, residential mortgages, risk, strategy and technology.
Recognising the growing demand from Common Cents Advisory's clients, Simon joined the business as an accredited mortgage broker. He combines sharp analytical skills with an engaging, easy communication style to help clients cut through the noise to recommend products that meet their needs.
Simon regularly works with first home buyers, upgraders, and investors looking for the right property solutions, as well as small and medium businesses that need finance to purchase assets, fund expansion, or manage working capital. Whatever the goal, Simon brings the same straightforward, client-first approach Common Cents Advisory is built on: helping people make confident, well informed financial decisions.
